Earn while you work. There are many way that you enter engineering. Taking an apprenticeship is one route. On the job training with a company, day release once a week to attend college. I spoke to two apprentices within Grontmij who are working with the Highways and transportation department.
They are completing a two year competence-based qualification and NVQ in Civil Engineering for Technicians. This Level 3 work-based qualification is aimed at learners who are working, or want to work, as civil engineering technicians in a variety of settings with contractors, consultants, government agencies and local authorities. This qualification is supported by the Institution of Civil Engineers and is designed to meet the UK specification for the EngTech Standard.
