CPD at the National Science Learning Centre. Residential course -PART 1:- 3rd June - 5th June 2013.
This course was filled with an array of modern ICT tools and techniques that could bring learning to life within Science. However, the tools used during this course can be adapted for other subjects to help engage and enthuse students, enriching teaching and learning practices. During the three days we were introduced to iPads and their potential within the classroom, interactive voting devices and other mobile devices for learning. We were given an insight into creating websites, wikis, surveys and blogs. This is my first website!
We were introduced to various software and applications that could be used to manage digital images. The use of ICT within practical sessions was demonstrated using data logging equipment, IR and thermal imagers. Applications of using Raspberry Pi for programming was highlighted as well as using many other applications and collaboration tools to enhance learning that are freely available on the internet. Interesting discussions on internet security! We saw how easy it was to crack insecure passwords within minutes!
Part of the course involves an online component to extend and embed learning from the course and to collaborate with other participants to share experiences and resources. These experiences can be found in my blog.
Experiences shared with other participants can be found on my wiki page
