A2 builds on all the topics studies at AS. The main difference is the development of a quantitative approach rather than a qualitative one. In short, the level of mathematics increases significantly at A2. The other development of A2 level is the ability to link threads from topics across the whole course. This is known as a synoptic approach. The model of assessment at A2 is the same as AS apart from the length of time allocated for each paper.
At A2 you will study the following units:-
F324 Rings, Polymers and Analysis (30%) 1hr 15 mins
Rings, polymers and analysis
Polymers and synthesis
Analysis
F325 Equilibria, Energetics and Elements (50%) 2hr
Rates, equilibrium and pH
Energy
Transition metals
F326 Practical Skills (20%)
Assessed by completion of 3 practical skills tasks taken during the year
