Attended a conference today with other engineering consultancy firms and the local council. Speakers presented the framework management system known as 'YORhub'. This is a central procurement system where clients can post upcoming projects and engineering firms can put forward their bids and tenders. 'YORconsult' acts as a central database collecting scores for completed projects. Projects are scored by the client. The survey assesses factors such as quality of service, health and safety, variance from design, value for money, time taken to complete project, employability skills and environmental impact. The information collected from YORconsult can be used as marketing material to potential clients.
This framework management system also helps companies determine which engineering disciplines are in greatest demand. Currently, the most enquires have been within the civil, transport and signals/lighting areas. During the 5 years that 'Yorbuild' has been up and running, it has attracted over 750 million pounds of business.
